As for home generators, nothing beats Honda 4-stroke petrol generators. Use them in you home, or even on camping.
Reliable, and very economical in use.
One added bonus: Honda home generators are very quiet.
It makes sense to spend some extra money, and buy a quality electric generator for your home, instead of a generic one.
We've installed a small diesel generator to supply power in case of breakdowns. It's a critical matter for my sister who has to have her medical equipment available at all times. So far, we've no troubles with our Yanmar diesel generator. Electricity supplied when the power is down, makes for a better quality of life.
